Year of the Dragon 2012 

The lunar year of the Dragon starts on 23^rdJanuary 2011, when all over the world there will be celebrations for Chinese New Year. Whilst the lunar new year is an important cultural date, Chinese Astrologers will be noting that the Dragon starts ruling year from the 4^thFebruary 2012, the start of the solar year.

The Dragon is the only mythical creature out of the twelve Chinese zodiac signs. Does this mean that the Dragon year will somehow be more extraordinary than the other animal years? In Chinese culture the Dragon is a symbol of power and good fortune. The emperors of China wore Dragon robes as they ruled the empire seated on Dragon thrones. Does this mean success is inevitable in the year of the Dragon? Not necessarily, for the mighty Dragon has a shadow side as well as a bright side.
